Mr Tait holds an undergraduate degree in applied science and two masters’ degrees from Queensland University, one in Administration (J D Storey prize in Public Administration) the other in Urban and Regional Planning. 

Mr Tait is married to Dr Joanna Tait and they have five children, three sons and two daughters.  The Tait family lives in Fig Tree Pocket, in Brisbane.

Mr Tait spent 15 years in the Queensland Public Service rising to become an Executive Director of the Premier’s Department and Cabinet Secretary.  Mr Tait worked for Mike Ahern, Wayne Goss and Kevin Rudd and serving various National Party and Labor Party State Governments. 

Mr Tait was awarded a Churchill  Scholarship to study the British Cabinet Office and systems of executive government in 1989 and was the author of the Queensland Cabinet Handbook.  

Since leaving the Queensland Public Service 1992, Mr Tait has established an Australia-wide business career specialising in after hours primary medical care, telecare and telehealthcare.  He speaks nationally and internationally about health care related issues. 

Mr Tait is CEO and majority shareholder of Family Care Medical Services Limited (FCMSL), which is Australia’s largest medical deputising service.  Family Care Medical Services has 2,650 subscribing GPs, cares for over 5.2 million Australians in Southern Queensland, North Sydney and Western Sydney and carries out over 250,000 patient contacts annually.    

FCMSL has over 200 staff and contractors providing its essential services to the communities in which it operates. Mr Tait is also an independent Director of a number of other private companies.  He sits on the advisory board of Anacacia Capital (awarded as the fastest growing private equity fund in the world for the period 2006 to 2008 by Preqin-the United States pensions and investments magazine).  Mr Tait is also a director of the Family Care Friendly Society which is a not for profit provider of health assistance to the Australian community.

Mr Tait’s interests include managing a portfolio of Australian and international equities, private equity investment, property management, collecting contemporary Australian and first contact aboriginal art, fly fishing (fresh and salt water), golf and philanthropy (both community and environmental). 

In 2003, Mr Tait was awarded a Centenary Medal by the Commonwealth Governor-General for his involvement in community fund raising and health care.  

Mr Tait is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and President of the National Association of Medical Deputising (Australia) a member of the Brisbane Club, Brisbane Golf Club and the Queensland Art Gallery Foundation.
