ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Beyond our commitment to providing the best possible after hours medical care, Family Care Medical Services recognises that it has an environmental responsibility. Family Care Medical Services have undertaken a number of actions to reduce the environmental impact of after hours doctor’s house calls.

To minimise our carbon footprint, Family Care Medical Services converted the service’s vehicle fleet to four-cylinder gas fuelled and diesel efficient vehicles.

Family Care Medical Services also contributes financially to the Australian Wildlife Conservancy to allow it to purchase private conservation land that would otherwise be cleared for agriculture. This contribution off-sets the carbon footprint of the 24 vehicle fleet.

Through these and other initiatives, Family Care Medical Services contributes over $35 000 per year to environmental improvement policies. After hours doctor’s visits minimised paper use through the introduction of electronic reports. Paper saved in 2008/09 is estimated to be in excess of 20 tonnes.
